– Oh, I’ve been looking for an iron frying pan exactly like that!
I was visiting my mother in late November 2018, and she had bought a small iron frying pan in the size that I’d been trying to find for some time. It was from Clas Ohlsson, a store that has been around forever.
Christmas shopping came up, and I visited a couple of stores in different cities – sold out! What a bummer.
Then it so happened in early January 2019, that I had been at a full-day workshop in a shopping mall, and needed to clear my head and to refocus. One of the many tools I have is to go browsing in stores, and I got an impulse to do it. I crossed my mind that it was a Clas Ohlson store in the mall, and I went – and, voila, there was the iron frying pan!
Grabbed one and in a happy spirit, I browsed the store. Right before getting to the cashier, I stopped at the art department. And there were some new pens that I’d never seen before – Promarkers. As a pen lover, I had to get a pack of 12 and a marker pad. I did hesitate since why should I buy it, what’s the use, too expensive, etc. Anyway, I left the store very happy with my pan, pens, and paper.
During that period, I had a rough time at work, and the pens and paper became my way of meditating, and they gave me peace of mind. After a couple of weeks, I had an urge for more nuances of the colors, and it so happened that I was going to Stockholm for work some days later. I looked up the artist shops, and I decided to visit the ones close to the hotel.
February 4, 2019, I spent the morning at the Stockholm Fashion Fair, and then I went back to the hotel since the afternoon and evening meetings were canceled. When I passed by the artist’s stores, I picked up some pens and went to the hotel. Later that night, on the phone talking and “doodling” as I’ve done since I was in the teens while on the phone, the first Crumelur drawing appeared. It just drew itself. I was so surprised! The Crumelurs were suddenly here, they stepped into my life, and what has followed since that day is stunning.
Today, February 4, 2020, it’s a year ago since the first Crumelurs appeared. It’s surprising how fast the Crumelurs have moved into the world by themselves, and I’m curious, thrilled, happy to see where our journey will take us. You may follow the Crumelurs on Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
See you soon again,
